At Dyve, our mission is to turn your physical bookshelf into a warm, personal living visual library that fits your intentional reading journey. We deeply respect the privacy of your personal collection and reading habits, and this policy outlines clearly how we handle your information when you use our app.

1. What Information We Collect

We only collect information that is necessary to deliver the core experience you expect from Dyve:

• Shelf Photos & Book Data: When you take photos of your physical bookshelf to use our book recognition feature, we process these photos to identify individual titles in your collection. You can choose to store your original photos either locally on your device or sync them to cloud storage if you enable cross-device access to your library. All book metadata (titles, authors, cover art) you add to your personal collection is stored according to your storage preference.
• Reading Journey Data: We store information you voluntarily provide, including reading progress, reading goals, custom organization of your collection, and progress visualization preferences. This data belongs entirely to you, and it is only used to power your personal reading tracking features.
• Device Information: We collect basic anonymous device data (such as device type, operating system version, app crash logs) to help us improve the performance and stability of Dyve. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

2. How We Use Your Information

We only use your information for the core purposes of delivering and improving the Dyve experience, specifically:

• To accurately recognize books from your shelf photos and build your digital visual library
• To sync your collection across your devices if you choose to enable cloud sync
• To power your reading progress tracking, goal setting, and elegant progress visualizations
• To fix bugs, improve app performance, and develop new features that fit the needs of our users
• To respond to your support requests if you reach out to our team

We never use your personal reading data or shelf photos for advertising or any other unrelated commercial purpose.

3. Data Storage & Security

We prioritize the security of your personal library. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. If you choose to store your data locally on your device, it remains entirely under your control. If you choose cloud storage, your data is encrypted both in transit and at rest.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal identifiable information to any third party for commercial purposes. We only share your information in the following limited circumstances:

• With your explicit consent: if you choose to share your reading progress or library publicly or with friends, we only share what you authorize.
• With trusted service providers who help us operate Dyve: these providers are contractually required to keep your data secure and confidential, and they can only use your data as instructed by us.
• If required by law: we will only disclose your information if we are legally required to do so, to protect our rights, or to ensure the safety of our users and the public.

5. Your Rights & Choices

You retain full control over your data at all times. You can:

• Export your entire book collection and reading data at any time in a standard, accessible format
• Delete any or all of your data, including your entire account and collection, permanently from our servers at any time
• Change your storage preference between local-only and cloud sync at any time
• Update or correct any personal information associated with your account

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes to our features or legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this policy, and we will notify you through the app prior to any changes taking effect. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
